Remote Monitoring & Management (RMM)
Most IT problems announce themselves before they break something. We monitor every device you own — disks, updates, backups, performance — and fix what we can before anyone opens a ticket.
What it is
The difference between reactive and proactive IT is visibility
Without monitoring, IT is a queue of complaints. A disk fills up and a server stops accepting mail. A laptop misses three months of updates and becomes the entry point for ransomware. A backup job fails silently in March and is discovered in September, when it is needed.
Remote monitoring and management puts a lightweight agent on every endpoint and server, reporting continuously on disk health, patch status, security software, performance and backup success. Thresholds generate alerts before a condition becomes an outage, and routine maintenance is automated rather than remembered.
For security this matters more than most people realise. The overwhelming majority of successful attacks exploit something that was already known and already patchable. Knowing exactly which machines are behind, and being able to deploy the update across all of them, removes most of that opportunity.
At a glance
- Monitors and manages devices remotely to fix issues proactively.
- Automates software updates and patching for security.
- Provides real-time alerts and reports on IT health.
Delivered as part of Guardbyte’s managed IT services, with patching and alerting handled by our team.
Capabilities
What the service covers
Device & server monitoring
Continuous health monitoring across Windows and Linux servers, workstations and network devices, with alerts on thresholds that matter.
Automated patching
Operating system and third-party application updates are tested and deployed on a schedule, with reporting on what is compliant and what is not.
Proactive remediation
Common issues — disk cleanup, service restarts, failed agents — are resolved automatically or by our team before they reach a user.
Security posture checks
We verify that endpoint protection, encryption and backups are actually running on every device, not just licensed.
Asset inventory
A live picture of every device, its specification, age and installed software — the basis for budgeting and for spotting what should not be there.
Reporting
Regular reports on patch compliance, device health and recurring issues, so IT spend follows evidence rather than the loudest complaint.
Managed by Guardbyte
Alerts are only useful if someone answers them
An RMM platform will happily generate thousands of alerts a month. The value is in what happens next.
01
Agents deployed everywhere
Every server, workstation and mobile device is enrolled, so there are no blind spots — including the machines nobody remembered.
02
Thresholds tuned
Alerting is tuned to your environment so it reflects genuine problems instead of normal behaviour, which is how alert fatigue starts.
03
Handled by our team
Alerts route to our helpdesk and are actioned within the SLA, including out of hours for critical systems.
04
Patched on schedule
Updates are tested, staged and deployed with reporting on compliance, so you can prove which machines are current.
FAQ
Questions we get asked
What is the difference between RMM and a SOC?
RMM watches the health and configuration of your IT — disks, updates, backups, performance. A SOC watches for security threats and attacks. They overlap on patching, which is both an IT hygiene task and one of the most effective security controls.
Does the agent slow machines down?
No. The agent is lightweight and most processing happens on our side. Users generally do not know it is there except when a scheduled update runs.
Can you patch third-party software, not just Windows?
Yes. Browsers, PDF readers, Java and similar applications are where a large share of exploited vulnerabilities live, and they are covered alongside operating system updates.
Will you install updates without warning us?
Critical security patches are deployed on an agreed schedule with a maintenance window. Anything disruptive is planned with you first — we do not reboot a production server unannounced.
Do you cover devices used by remote staff?
Yes. The agent reports over the internet, so a laptop at home is monitored and patched exactly like one in the office.
